Distribution of mice
The EUCOMM and EUMODIC (European Mouse Disease Clinic) programs are jointly undertaking an extensive mouse production effort from the EUCOMM ES cell resource, aiming to generate at least 500 mouse lines. These mutant lines will be analysed by the EUMODIC program in a primary phenotyping screen. The phenotype data will be made available to the scientific community via the Europhenome database. The mutant mice that have been produced from the EUCOMM ES cell resource by the EUCOMM and EUMODIC programs are being distributed by the European Mouse Mutant Archive (EMMA).
All EUCOMM/EUMODIC mice for which germ line transmission has been confirmed are listed on the EMMA website. Customers wishing to obtain a line can use the 'EMMA Strain Interest Registration Form' to express interest in a specific line. If mice are readily available for distribution an order can be placed using the online 'EMMA Mutant Request Form'. Lines which are no longer maintained as live stock can be ordered as frozen embryos, and can be rederived upon request. The EMMA fee for frozen embryos is € 1100, while live mice are being distributed for a cost of € 1700. The € 1700 covers the provision of a breeding nucleus of up to three pairs of SPF mice. General information on EMMA strain requests is available on http://www.emmanet.org/strains.php.
